The creation of this documentation for the kahawai database was supported, in part, by Fisheries New Zealand project SEA2025-10. The kahawai.io system and the kahawai database have been developed collaboratively by all members of the Kahawai Collective. The original development of the system was undertaken by Trident Systems LP with support from Seafood Innovations Ltd. 

The approaches used to prepare the data extracts for routine fisheries analyses incorporate accumulated knowledge gained through participation in the Fisheries New Zealand science working group processes, and we acknowledge the ideas, analyses, and discussion contributed by all participants in those groups. The initial implementation of the grooming and allocation procedures in the kahawai database was carried out by Nokome Bentley, Richard Mansfield, and Max Schofield.
